Another Dickens of a Time
This year the Rotary Club of Rochester invited us with our wives and husbands to join them for their lunch meeting at the Masonic Hall during the Dickens Festival in Rochester and 10 of us enjoyed their excellent hospitality. A similar visit to Rochester took place last year and the annual contact between the two clubs started 3 years ago when we had supper with a group from Rochester when they attended the Pantomime at the old Marlowe Theatre.
The majority of our party wore Dickensian costume and took part in the parade down the High Street in the morning. It was great fun mingling with the Dickensian crowds.

Mr. Richard Bumble-Cook the Beadle kept shaking his stick at the children, but none of them seemed to be frightened.
Mr. Alastair Micawber- Scott was heard repeatedly mumbling "Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure nineteen shillings and sixpence, result happiness. Annual income twenty pounds, annual expenditure twenty pounds ought and six, result misery." It worried all the Rotarians who heard it.
Perhaps, we should consider inviting Rochester RC on a theatre trip to the new Marlowe when it opens in 20011
