Try-Angle Awards

The Try Angle Awards are to reward the efforts and achievements of young people throughout the area. The idea started in Thanet in 1995 and has now spread countrywide. Rotary club of Canterbury has supported the awards for a number of years and local Rotary Clubs, Chestfield, Canterbury Forest of Blean, Canterbury Sunrise, Herne Bay and Whitstable have joined us.

We contributed to The Lord Mayor of Canterbury’s Award and this seemed very appropriate as our Vice President Harry Cragg holds this office at the moment. The winners in the category were Wesley Pearson, who had hearing and behavioural difficulties, Lauren Whale who is in a wheelchair but nevertheless manages to help others, and Andrew Chiguri who is Nigerian, saw his father killed , has adapted well in his new country, is a good athlete and has joined in school activities.

Various other categories had  moving stories behind the awards and we feel this is a very worthwhile event to support and intend, with the support of the public, to continue to do so in the future.
