Poppy Appeal thanks

As the year draws to a close it was heartening for our Club to receive a letter of thanks for our assistance earlier in the year for the Poppy Appeal.

Each year our Members are happy to support the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal - this year was no different from others, with around 30 Members of the Club coming forward to help.

The letter, from local Poppy Appeal organiser Gerald Ferrett MBE, informed us that our Members raised nearly £2,500 for the appeal; given the terrible weather at the time that is great news. Each participant got a breakdown of how much they raised - and we'd like to give Past President Roger Clarke a special pat on the back for raising almost £500. Outstanding!

Past Chair of our Fundraising Committee Rtn Stephen Thompson said: "We'd like to thank all or our Members as well as the public who very kindly came forward to support this very worthwhile charity."

We look forward to supporting the appeal again in 2019.
