Supporting Buster's Book Club

Our Past President went to Parkside Community Primary School recently to pass on vouchers that we've donated for Buster's Book Club, a reading reward scheme for children in Kent, Medway, Bexley, Bromley, Sussex and East Anglia.

The school was presented with the vouchers by Harry Cragg during a special assembly. Harry and the youngsters also got a chance to meet Buster's Book Club mascot - a giant blue and green bug!

The pupils at the school will compete amongst each other for the vouchers for Wildwood Animal Park as part of the reading scheme.

Our Club has been happy to support Buster's Book Club through our Community Services Committee, chaired by PP David Barton. Through the scheme children take part in competitions and other actvities which encourage them to read "for fun" while at home; the aim is to make reading "cool"!

As part of the Scheme children are set reading targets according to their year group and take part in lots of fun activities to keep up the excitement.

Harry & "Buster" were given a enthusiastic welcome by the children, joined by literacy coordinator Kay Devine, who thanked our Club for its support.
