Our Wishing Well keeps helping us!

Our Wishing Well has been a great success and a steady earner for our Rotary Club.

Since buying the Wishing Well, partly with some donations from individual members of our Club, it has helped to raise over £1,700. This means that it's now more than paid for itself - in just over 18 months!

The Wishing Well is emptied and cleaned about every 10 days by Past President Robert Yonge and Rtn Deborah Connolly. Unfortunately that's not always a pleasant job. It’s surprising what they find in the bucket apart from coins - for instance rubbish, plastic tokens, chewing gum and even sticky drinks!

The Wishing Well has now been in various places, including Fenwicks and Nasons in Canterbury; for the last year it's been at its current position in Tesco Metro in Canterbury. As a gesture of good will our club has agreed to donate half of the collections to Tesco’s chosen charities.

Do give a coin a spin if you're passing - it's a great way of having a few moments of fun (and doing some good) while emptying your purse or wallet of annoying pennies or your heavy loose change. Youngsters often enjoy racing coins down the two sides of the well too.

Robert  is hoping to move the Wishing Well to another suitable venue soon...and any contacts or suggestions would be helpful. Please contact us here
