Visit to St Quentin, France

The weekend of October 1st to 3rd, 2010 saw a part of fifteen make their way to St Quentin in Northern France for a weekend of fellowship, fun and good food.

The relationship between the Rotary Clubs of Canterbury and St Quentin goes back to the normalisation of international relationships following the second world war and makes the friendship between the clubs very special.

The rendezvous for the start of the weekend was the headquarters of the St Quentin club - the Villa d'Isle restaurant in the centre of the city. A swift drink allowed for introductions to be made and for friendships to be renewed before we departed for the homes of our hosts for the weekend for a quick change of clothes before we were whisked-off to the house of another Rotarian for supper.

Your correspondent and his wife made up a party of ten; six French and four English.  The others in the party had similar experiences.  As ever, our French hosts were generous with their hospitality; the food was excellent as were the wines.  Mindful of a full programme the following day most were in bed soon after midnight.
