As part of our reaching out to the community, Marjorie Lyle has been holding discussions with the members of KAB’s Technology Suite in the London Road, Canterbury. Jointly they identified ways in which the Rotary Club of Canterbury could contribute to the training programme. It was decided that the purchase of an Apple iPhone for demonstration purposes, at classes held to introduce Technical equipment, could be helpful for some of the members that have varying degrees of impaired sight.

It was arranged that a presentation would take place at the next meeting of the joint Canterbury/Dover KAB committee on June14th. The Phone allows the use of Special Applications now available, which will read out aloud documents photographed or presented to the phone. Marjorie was invited to give a short presentation of CSC’s work in the Community.

The Photo taken in the Technology Suite shows from left to right Peter Coe- Technician, Amanda Bodemeaid-Chairman of KAB and Marjorie in the centre and far right Steve Mitchell-Technician.

Members of the CSC are encouraged to reach out to suitable local organisations that are undertaking meaningful assistance to those who have special needs. This is in addition to giving support to selected individuals and organisations that seek our help.
