Mock interviews at Abbey School

Our members have been out again helping youngsters to prepare for future interviews, this time at Abbey School in Faversham.

Regular readers of our news will recall that we conducted mock interviews of students at Archbishop's School earlier this year. Following on from this, Past President Harry Cragg along with Rtns Andrew Barchi and Brian Dobinson went to Abbey School on 8th March for further mock interviews with sixth formers.

They each interviewed three pupils aged 17 or 18 years, none of whom had any previous experience of being interviewed, on the basis of CVs which the students had prepared.

Our members also discussed this initiative with the staff and offered further written advice to teachers. All the Rotarians that took part enjoyed the morning and - judging by the reaction of the interviewees - felt it was time well spent!

We expect further opportunities of this kind to arise for Rotarians wishing to take part and hope to report accordingly.

Update: It was a pleasure to receive an email from Ruben Forrest, Head of Business and Careers, thanking us for our support with their 'Big Interviews'. He stated that "The interviews were a huge success, with many students coming to find me afterwards to say thank-you for organising it." Our members certainly enjoyed taking part and we hope to continue this initiative in future.
