Taking children from St Nicholas school out on a 'soft play' outing

Continuing our long-standing support for St Nicholas special school, some of our members helped take pupils on a trip to The Big Fun House soft play centre in Chartham the other day.

As with our last outing with the school, it was Rotarians Deborah Connolly and Maxine Blades that helped with the 12 children, accompanied by 8 staff members. The youngsters had a go on slides, climbing frames and a soft football pitch. Our Club covered the costs and made the necessary arrangements with the play centre via our Community Service Committee.

We're delighted to report that all of the kids had a great time at play. They also enjoyed a light lunch there before heading back to the school.

Jamie Daniels, one of the teachers at the school, said "Thank you so much to Rotary for funding such an amazing day out for the reception class children of St Nicholas School." He added that the children had the "best time exploring all the activities that 'The Big Fun House’ had to offer. So much so that the children really didn’t want to leave!"
