We had a lovely time today – with Members of Forest of Blean Rotary Club – meeting newcomers and returning students to Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) during the University’s “Experience Fair”. What an exciting time for the newest students, and how lovely to welcome them to be part of Canterbury’s Community. We wish them every success in their studies.
Many of us recall what’s it’s like on the first day at a new school, college, university or workplace – so it was nice to be able to be part of a group of people welcoming youngsters to the City and helping them feel part of the community with a friendly smile!
The fair was a chance for new and returning students to meet some of the internal University teams who will support them during their time at CCCU, and to also meet people from local community services (for example, NHS community teams).
We were able to tell the students a little bit about Rotary and give some information about Rotary in Canterbury and what it is and what it does. Of course we also invited everyone to come along to our Duck Race THIS Sunday – and maybe sponsor a duck (or few)!
With thanks to Rachel Pilard from Canterbury BID for the introductions and to Josh Turner and Hayley Hadlow from CCCU for inviting us.
