Purple-themed recipe e-book: help eradicate polio from the world!

Members of our club, the Rotary Club of Canterbury, have worked together with members of the Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunsrise to produce a purple-themed recipe e-book (i.e. a digital book) in order to raise awareness about polio and Rotary’s work to help eradicate this potentially devastating disease from the world*.

The unique book features recipes suggested by Rotarians, Inner Wheel members and their family and friends and will focus on foods or ingredients that are bluey-purple, pinky-purple, reddish-purple or purply-purple! There’s lots more in the book too.

How to download the e-book

To download a FREE copy of this unique e-book (PDF format), which is not available anywhere else, click here [compressed PDF, 2.31MB]

*About polio and PolioPlus

As recently as the late 1980s polio was a devastating disease, endemic in 125 countries around the world. Thanks to the efforts of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI), with which Rotary partners, there are now just two countries left with wild type polio. Rotary’s PolioPlus programme was the first initiative to tackle global polio eradication by vaccinating children on a massive scale.

Why purple?

The colour purple symbolises Rotary’s worldwide campaign to eradicate polio – a purple dye is used to mark the finger of a child who has been immunised. Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland’s Purple4Polio campaign raises awareness for Rotary’s battle to eradicate polio now and forever.

We want to help Rotary, through its PolioPlus programme, to work towards the global eradication of polio. By donating to our fundraising for PolioPlus you will be helping us to do this.
