Donation to Health for All

It’s great to have been able to support a locally-based charity, Health for All, with a donation towards their much-needed work in one of the poorest districts in India.

Health for All is a charity based in Bridge (near Canterbury, Kent) and was developed by the doctors, staff and patients at the Canterbury Medical Practice. The charity works in Bihar, India, in partnership with People First, a local Indian NGO. The rural area where they work is improverished and lacking in access to healthcare. The project works with Indian doctors, nurses and midwives to provide health care, health education and immunisation programmes, particularly for women in isolated villages. It mainly focuses on preventative work, but refers those that are seriously ill for prompt care. The Bihar project reaches out to families beneath the poverty line in one of the poorest districts in India.

Members of our International Commitee agreed to donate £400 to the charity to cover the costs of a list of items that Dr Mark Jones, from Health for All, had sent to us. Indicating just how basic their needs are, the list included two sets of stethoscopes, a blood pressure machine, weighing scales for children, a weighing machine, and thermometers. It also included supplements for pregnant women.
