Donations taken to Canterbury Food Bank

Due to the generosity of everyone who donated food and cash during our Santa’s Sleigh drive in December, Rotary in Canterbury was able to present Canterbury Food Bank with two pallet loads of food and a cheque for £2724.95*.

The money will go towards food parcels for those in need in the local community.

Food Bank Manager Liam thanked Rotary groups for their continued support. “We are incredibly grateful and proud to work in partnership with you in being the safety net [that] our community so desperately needs,” he added.

This December the Food Bank provided an astonishing 13,140 meals to 850 adults and 610 children – that’s 2,448 meals more than in 2021. In January 2022, 98,901 meals were provided – compared to 66,168 meals in January 2021.

*We also received some additional donations. The remaining 50% of funds raised will go towards the great causes that our three Canterbury Clubs support.
