Helping Marie Curie UK with a collection at Morrisons

On Saturday, several of our Members took it by turn to help with the Marie Curie UK collection at Morrisons in Canterbury – some of them wearing the daffodil hats that have come to symbolise Marie Curie UK’s work to support the terminally ill.

Back at the start of February we agreed to help Marie Curie UK in their fundraising day at Morrisons supermarket In Canterbury. We were delighted to be able to help them again as we’ve done in the past.

Marie Curie UK supports the terminally ill (including those with terminal cancer) and, according to the website, Marie Curie nurses provide “highly skilled care in our hospices and in people’s homes across the UK, day and night.” Their website also says that “trained volunteers and advisers offer practical information and support” when people don’t know what to do next…or just need to talk. And the daffodils? The website says: “They’re a positive, life-affirming symbol, with a bright and joyful yellow colour.”

You can learn more about Marie Curie UK and donate direct to them here. You can also find other fundraising ideas or buy from the Marie Curie shop on their site in order to support their work.
