Lunch time meeting – online!

Our Members are a flexible lot when it comes to service above self, so we embraced new technology to hold our inaugural online meeting!

Spurred on by PP Richard Kemball-Cook, who helped with the set up (not really hard), we managed to hold our first ever online meeting, with 16 of our members joining in. Not bad for a Club in its late 90s (that’s the Club’s age, not ours!)

Today’s meeting was chaired as usual by our President, Neil Fraser – assisted by Richard on the technical side of things. It was great for us all to be able to see each other after what seems quite a while. A few niceties and then straight to our agenda, which focused on how we might continue to be of service to the local community and others. You’ll hear more about that in due course. A major issue, as for so many other volunteer groups, is that we aren’t able to use our usual routes for fundraising. We had some good discussions and thoughts to go away with.

At the end of the meeting we checked on how everyone was managing – fortunately everyone seemed in good spirits. It was nice to hear one member say he hadn’t realized how much he missed the rest of us. There is, after all, a lot of camaraderie in Rotary.

We hope to have even more Members in future meetings as more of our Members get set up – we might not report on all of the meetings, but we’re sure our Members will be looking to days ahead when we hope things will be better and when we can return to some normality.
