Earlier this year we were contacted by someone from the Children’s Therapies Service at Kent & Canterbury Hospital about a little local girl under the unit’s care with very complex medical and physical needs. Because of her health problems the little girl had never had a birthday party – she’d always been on hospital on her birthday. The person asked if we could help support a princess-themed 5th birthday party for her.
Our Community Service Commitee thought it a lovely idea and didn’t hesitate to give £200 towards the party (which was the maximum estimate of how much the party would cost).
All seemed to be going well, but then, worryingly, we heard that the little girl had become very poorly and had to go to intensive care. We had to wait until she got better and stronger.
Today we got the wonderful news that she is better and that the party went ahead. We were very pleased to receive a letter of thanks for our help “to provide such special memories for this little girl”. Everything seemed to have gone well and apparently she had a Princess entertainer (Elsa – which is her favourite), “which brought the biggest smile to her face”! What delightful news!
