Club members collect stamps in aid of Pilgrims Hospices

For the last few years Past President John Hill has been busy collecting used stamps from our members to raise funds for Pilgrims Hospices on behalf of our Club.

Pilgrims Hospices is a registered charity that provides specialist care to patients and families across east Kent. Their vision for hospice care is that everyone should have access to the services they need to cope with illness that cannot be cured and make the most of the time they have. They offer their services free of charge and their work is truly valued.

The stamps that we collect are collected together with others and sold to raise funds for the charity. Collecting unwanted stamps for charity is so much better than putting them in the bin – and the last time we enquired we learnt that the Hospices had made around £3000 from stamps.

The number of stamps is decreasing given the increase in other forms of communication such as online messages and phone texts – but with lots of Christmas cards being sent out around now it’s a really good time to collect the stamps (though they are collected throughout the year too).
