Supporting mental health with the Lord Mayor and East Kent Mind

Several of our members joined the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Cllr Keji Moses on Friday, at a fundraiser hosted by ABode Hotel in Canterbury for the Lord Mayor’s Charity of the Year, East Kent Mind. More than £300 was raised; this will go towards supporting the creation of 100 plus Wellbeing Ambassadors this year.

Billed as a networking event, the evening welcomed guests from across the community for an enjoyable gathering in support of local mental health services.

Hosts ABode marked the launch of the hotel’s new Flirtini cocktail – each guest was offered a complimentary cocktail upon arrival and had the chance to learn how to create the drink themselves during a mixology session later in the evening.

Following on from the recent launch of the Lord Mayor’s charity for her Mayoral year, the event also shone a light on the important work being done by East Kent Mind, with attendees hearing from Cllr Keji Moses and Simon Dolby, Development Lead at East Kent Mind. Both spoke passionately about the charity’s initiatives, including the Ambassador programme.

100% of the ticket sales went towards East Kent Mind, and guests were encouraged to make an additional donation to the charity. As one Rotarian put it: “We’re very happy to be supporting community wellbeing through this event – and it’s nice to stand alongside local leaders and organisations for such an important cause.”
