The plight of civilians in Ukraine speaks to the deep human toll of conflict. Alongside the visible damage, Ukrainian civilians – especially mothers and children – are facing the hidden wounds of trauma, loss and displacement.
To address this, the Pentangular group of Rotary Clubs, of which Canterbury is a member, under the leadership of the Rotary Club of Lüdenscheid, is developing a three-year project to train Ukrainian therapists and treat thousands of patients.
We are now calling out for support for the project. The plan is to begin with treating 2,000 people in year one, increasing to 6,000 people by year three. Expected results, by 2028, include:
- 30 trained psychotherapists
- Treatment of more than 6,000 affected people in total – mainly mothers and their children
