Welcome from this year’s President – Maxine Blades

Thank you for coming onto the Rotary Club of Canterbury’s website – I hope that you will carry on and explore our Rotarian values and read about the voluntary support that we provide to vulnerable people in our local, national and international communities.

We are ‘People of Action’! From a small group of businessmen providing the first public conveniences in Chicago early in the last Century, to working with national governments and major charities to eradicate Polio, Rotary has an amazing global reach. We are also very active in Canterbury, helping small charitable groups to provide facilities and activities for local people – see our news pages for more details of some of our recent projects and activities.

Our annual Duck Race in Westgate Gardens in September is our main source of income, and we work with the other Rotary Clubs in Canterbury and locally to fundraise and provide opportunities to help those facing challenges in their daily lives. We also have fun – socialising through fellowship is a key part of Rotary.

We have international contacts across Northern Europe and visit these annually, running joint projects in areas of the world where extra help is needed, most recently being financial and practical support for the people of Ukraine.

Our events and activities are posted on our website, and you are very welcome to come along and join us to see what we’re up to in Canterbury and beyond! If you’re interested, you can also become a Friend of our club!
