About The Rotary Club of Canterbury

Local

We pride ourselves on maintaining active links with the local community as well as supporting projects overseas. Local projects include providing play equipment for a Women’s Refuge, support for sufferers of Parkinson’s Disease and support for a local project that assists those with hearing difficulties. Click here for more details about the local support we provide.

International

Our International links are maintained through support for a variety of projects and needs, sponsored by our International Committee. These include aid for areas hit by natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, support for well-digging projects in Africa and other international aid projects.

We have an annual meeting with our four contact clubs in Belgium, France, Germany and Holland which goes under the banner of the Pentangular. The five Pentangular clubs are running a joint project to provide educational support to a Secondary School in Juba, South Sudan.

Young People

The Club is keen to support young people in the Canterbury area and is particularly proud of its Millennium Scholarship Trust Fund. This fund, which was set up to mark the Millennium, distributes money annually to support students planning to support an overseas charity or aid project during their gap year.

Fun & Friends

Fellowship is important too. Members also enjoy an active and varied social programme; this includes regular dinners with partners and guests, musical and theatrical events and visits.

The Club's headquarters - and lunchtime venue - is quintessentially English. We meet on Tuesdays (1st, 3rd & 4th at lunchtime) at the picturesque St Lawrence Cricket Ground, home to Kent County Cricket Club. Meetings on the 2nd & 5th Tuesdays in the month are held at a variety of venues. Check by clicking here for the full programme.
