Great news - the total from Santa's Sleigh

It's really nice to be sharing the great news that the Santa Sleigh drive this year, organised by the Rotary Club of Canterbury Sunrise but involving all three Rotary Clubs in Canterbury, raised £5090.03!

You may recall that we shared news about Santa's Sleigh drives earlier this week, detailing the routes the sleigh took. The amounts raised from each route ranged from around £400 to £680 and, overall, more food donations were received than previous years. An additional £100 donation to go towards Canterbury Food Bank was also made from a work colleague of one of the helpers - very generous indeed.

We are absolutely delighted with this total, given the cost-of-living crisis this year. This goes to highlight the generosity of the local community and the willingness to support others at this time of year. We'd like to thank everyone that was able to contribute, whether it be a financial or a food donation. The funds raised will now be split between Canterbury Food Bank and Rotary.

"The smiles and excitement of the children (including the adults) seeing Santa as we passed through the streets of Canterbury showed us the importance of coming together, especially at a time when so many are struggling to feed their families, warm up their homes and simply keep up with the increased costs of living," said President of the Sunrise Club, Sinitta Nightingale, who added "Even in tough times, we can still bring so much joy to everyone."
