Turkey Earthquake: Support through ShelterBox

Seeing the devastation caused by Monday's Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, our Club hasn't hesitated to act. We will be donating over £1000 to ShelterBox who are helping with the emergency response efforts.

According to their website, "ShelterBox is sending an emergency response team to carry out crucial assessments and establish how we can best help." They add that they "provide different combinations of emergency shelter aid depending on what is needed. This could be sending tents and shelter kits, stoves, thermal blankets and clothing to keep people warm through the freezing winter nights. It could be cash to help people buy what they need to survive. Or it could be solar lights that help people when there is no electricity."

The money that we are sending is the equivalent of providing two ShelterBoxes. The funds have gone out from the weekly raffle monies that we have accrued, our general charity funds, some donations and our reserve for such emergencies.
